Is there a difference in glue?

What to use for the best results

Emily’s Tips & Tricks: Some of my favorite and not-so favorite glues to use:

  • Glue Tips: When quilling, I like using Elmer’s regular glue for my projects, for several reasons. One, it dries clear; second, if I realize I made the wrong shape for example a loose circle but I needed a tight circle, I can pull the glued down tail up and re-roll. There’s an element of forgiveness and grace with Elmers. I recently realized that Elmer’s also makes a “New Stronger Formula” which is more of a yellow/brown color. This glue does not dry clear and as a result, I have ruined several projects.I do also like using Alene’s tacky glue for some of my quilling projects. I have learned that with tacky glue there is no forgiveness and grace. Once it on the paper, it stays there. As a result, I only use tacky glue when I want something to stay in place immediately such as when I use glistening/sparkly quilling paper or gluing a design to a metal or mirror magnet or making monogram letters.
